Pastor Williams and other Community Leader's have formed the Harlem Clergy and Community Leader's Coalition. This coalition has joined together to address the social, policial, economical and cultural systems of oppression that marginalizes and disenfranchise the some member's of the community. We came together out of an urgency to address the state crisis our community is in.
II don't understand why Religous Leader's and Community Leader's are standing on the sidelines while our communities are being saurated with small arms and our youth are killing one another. Parents, policial leader's, and clergy must come together to address these killings and find ways to curtal further lose of life.
Following the Sean Bell verdict Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly stated that the NYPD would be launching its own investigation. WHAT HAPPEND to that? Why are there so many guns in our community in the hands of our youth? What is NYPD doing about these and other problems that we face in the community? Pastor Williams put forth an ambitious agenda for the night: HCCLC membership, update on activities in the community i.e. Friday and Saturday night Street Watch Program currently focusing on 144th St. Adam Clayton Powell Blvd., the aftermath from the African Day Parade, Take Back our Streets Program. Pastor Williams also outline plans for a Street Team, Youth and Gang Summit, HCCLC's 12 month initiative, and a Gun drop event among other concerns.
Resently Harlem Clergy &Community Leader's held an organizing meeting. In attendance 100 Blacks in Law enforcement, Parent's who children were killed by small arms fire, NYPD, Black Peal Motocycle Club and many other's. This group was called together to plan and discuss HCCLC's Block Watch Program and other concerns in the community.
Pastor Williams is beseeching the community to come out in great numbers to take back our streets. He stresses that HCCLC isn't vigilantes, or crime fighters, but are fathers, mothers, grand-parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and concerned community member's coming together to build good community one block at a time. Pastor noted that following many flash events outraged people of the community come out in large numbers to protest injustice, but then fade back to the peripheries to pontificate. Pastor says that this mobilization of outraged community member's must translate into consistence in community activism, proactive parental activism and collaborative work with City agencies to address the causation of the conditions in our communities. It must be a total community effort with the men of the community taking the lead. At the meeting Pastor Williams remarked that when Pastor Ron. Sullivan of Christian Perish for Spiritual Renewal and he formed HCCLC the call was for 1000 men to take to the streets and be a positive presence in the community.  So far we have fallen short of our goal, but our numbers are growing. Interest in HCCLC activities in the community is growing and more and more people are reaching out to HCCLC from the Tri - State area for consultation and collaboration. Perfect Peace Ministry Youth Outreach, Inc. Pastor Williams ministry family has been working closely with many of the families in the Harlem area following this violent summer 2008. HCCLC has joined with Harlem Mother's Save, New Yorker's Against Gun's, and American Friends Services and City agencies to find ways to get the Guns off our streets and out of the hands of our youth.
HCCLC and Youth member's from 129th Steet were honored on October 18, 2008 for their collective efforts to bring Peace to the Harlem streets.  Brother Sami Chester and Pastor Williams (two gentlemen at either end of picture) have been working with the youth from the community and have established a peace treaty between two youth groups in conflict for the passed 18 months. Their efforts has producted two treaties and peace in the harlem community since September 2008 . The group is standing before a Peach Tree that was donnated and planted in their honor because of the work being done for peace and against Gun violence in Harlem.
